Rudolf Dethu

Rudolf Dethu is a multifaceted music journalist, writer, radio DJ, socio-political activist, creative industry leader, and band manager who draws inspiration from punk rock philosophy. Often referred to as the Indonesian version of Malcolm McLaren—or as Rolling Stone Indonesia calls him, the grand master of music propaganda—he is best known for managing Bali’s biggest bands, Superman Is Dead and Navicula, now two of the nation’s top rock acts. Currently managing The Hydrant, the pioneer of rockabilly in Indonesia, Rudolf is based in Bali and is the author of Blantika | Linimasa, the first history of modern music in Bali, as well as a mini-biography of Superman Is Dead. After helping to establish Rumah Sanur, Indonesia's first creative hub, he has been running RTB—Rumah Tanjung Bungkak, the largest creative space in Denpasar, since last year.
